Um.. Today is big bro's birthday! And I was going to make a drawing for him, but I can't decide which one to give to him.. They're all of unicorns though, because I wanted to draw the cute one I've seen on the communicator! [ A giggle. ] So.. can someone maybe help me decide which one is the best to give to him?

[ The camera moves slightly clumsily and shows three pieces of paper, each with a different drawing on it. They were obviously drawn in ink (and by a little child) and there are some ink blots left on certain parts of the drawings. ]

Here he's jumping over a cliff.. Oh, and there's a rainbow too! And you can see the sparkles he makes.

I haven't seen him at night yet, but I think he would sort of look like this..

Oh, and here he is just normally with a flower!

[ The camera pans back to Nanako, who gives a last slightly nervous smile before turning the feed off. ]

He was white, like most unicorns! And.. um.. he had a really special horn! It was candycorn coloured!

I'm afraid I know nothing of unicorns. [ Cid leans back in her chair and thinks a moment. ] ...what is candy-corn colored like?

You don't know about unicorns? [ HAVE A GASP because really, in Nanako's mind everyone knows about the fabulous that is unicorns. ]

Candy corn is yellow, orange and white-striped!

[ Sheepish. ] I'm afraid my world has nothing of the sort.

Ah, then nothing like a summoner's horn.

They don't have them back home either! Just on television and in storybooks.. But this one looked real!

... A summoner's horn?

Tele-vision? [ She blinks. ]

Oh, forgive me. Where I am from, a special class of mages wear a large red horn as part of their traditional attire. [ Cidriel brings her hand to her head, shaping a crest over her brow, and then points skyward with a lone finger from the space above her eyes. ] I am not aware of the significance, but it is always easy to spot their sort in the cities and on the road.

... [ Have the same blinking back. ] You.. don't know about television?

Oh, I think I understand! Maybe it's just important so they can recognize each other that way?

[ Cid just shakes her head slowly. ] I'm afraid not.

It might be. I never asked Popotato what his meant... Alas. Maybe someday I'll figure it out.

Wow..! It's a bit weird they don't have television in other worlds.. It's really fun!

Po.. potato?

Is it? I admit I don't even know what I'm missing, in this case...

Popo-Tato. [ With her accent, it might sound like she's saying "Poptart". ] He is a dear friend from back home, one of the summoners I mentioned.

It's.. um.. [ Long pause goes here. How does a little child explain what television is. ] It's like a big screen and you can watch anything on it! You can watch what's happening all the way on the other side of the world, or you can even see things that don't really exist.

[ She tries to repeat it, but.. sort of fails. ] That name's a bit strange. I haven't heard it before!

[ Her eyes widen a little. ] That sounds fabulous! Sort of how I can see and hear you right now, even though we are nowhere near each other?

Tarutaru tend to have very distinct names. Full of rhymes, repetition, or words that just sound silly when put together. [ A light laugh. ] By my elvaan standards, at any rate.

[ Nanako looks even more enthousiastic than normal on this point. She loves her television! ] Yes, just like that! Except that on television, everything is possible!

I think they sound a little bit funny. Popotato! [ She repeats it to herself and lets out a slight giggle. ]

Everything, hmm? [ Cidriel thinks this might be less a sign of the capabilities of this "television" and more to do with a child's imagination -- clearly, she is the creative sort. But she is quite fond of indulging young ones. ] And is there any "television" to be seen in Demeleier?

[ A light laugh. ] I wouldn't go telling him that~

I'm not sure.. I haven't seen a television here. Maybe the faeries have one?

Perhaps. [ A beat. ] Though one must be careful when dealing with them.

... I know. They can be really scary and dangerous.

[ She gives her a reassuring smile. ] I know your big brother does what he can to keep everyone safe.

Uh-huh, he does! He's really great and strong!

And he's a model gentleman. [ Even if they've only ever spoken indirectly at Watch meetings, she's observed his dealings with others. ] My own brother could learn a thing or two from him.

You have a brother too?

[ She smiles fondly. ] That's right. His name is Arkh, and I forget how many name days older he is, but ever since I was young-- [ By human standards, at least. ] --he was watching over me and supporting me.

[ Then she laughs a moment. ] You might like him. He's a bard -- a singer. He could probably write up a song about these mystical unicorns. [ They sure are ~fabulous~ enough. ]

A singer? W-wow! Can he really write songs about anything?

Probably! He can play a variety of instruments -- though a bard is more than just a singer. His music is basically like magic...

Magical music.. That sounds great! I really like singing too!
